Trip Information 

Annapurna Circuit Trekking has been designed to explore the diversity of the massif in the region. The journey takes the longest time of all the trekking designed to explore the region exploring the diverse landscapes and Nepali cultures. The experience of living in Manang is no less than living in the heaven. This adventurous trekking let one witness the formation of Cyan Gangapurna Lake from the glacier of Gangapurna Mountain. The trail takes us to one of the highest pass Thorong La (5,416 metres or 17,769 feet).  

One of the holiest shrines regarded in Hinduism and Buddhism, the Muktinath Temple locates at an altitude of 3,710 metres or 12,172 feet in Mustang district. The district is famous for apple farming.  From here, the trail meanders along the bank of Kaligandaki River.

Further, the Annapurna Circuit Trekking offers magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu including Annapurna South, Mount Fishtail, Annapurna I, Nilgiri, Tukuche, Dhampus peak, Gangapurna and several others from Poon Hill. The route takes us to Pokhara, the lake city. The Phewa Lake situates at the heart of Pokhara. Various outdoor activities available in Pokhara include paragliding, boating and ultra flight.

Hotel / Accommodations

Three-night accommodation in a star hotel in Kathmandu, one-night in Pokhara and 13-night stay in the standard teahouse lodge in mountains during the trek. You may have to share a bed with a companion during the mountainous trip. But if you need, $ 230 can fetch you single supplement for the whole trip in the mountains.

Food:

You will be served with breakfast during your stay in Kathmandu. All other meals will be provided to you by Mount Fishtail Adventure Pvt Ltd which includes welcome dinner. We provide you with breakfast, lunch and dinner during the journey. When you are in the mountain, you will be served with local foodstuffs such as Dal Bhat (gram soup and rice), noodles, Tibetan breads made of buckwheat, apple pie, spaghettis, soup, salad, hot drinks.

Best time to travel

The best time to set out on Annapurna Circuit Trekking is either in Spring season (March to May) or in Autumn (September to November). It offers magnificent views together with amazing sunrise and sunset in these two seasons.

The journey is also possible in other seasons even in monsoon but we recommend you on its best time.

Points to consider

deAs the trek leads to the higher altitudes 5,416 metres to the Thorong La Pass, it becomes a bit difficult so it is better to become familiar with some physical training in advance. A determined person with self-confidence and average fitness can do this trek. You are likely to walk 6 to 7 hours a day. Besides that, you will require getting medical advice from a doctor if you have any health defect. You will have to inform us beforehand.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1Arrival to Kathmandu (1,345 metres or 4,413 feet) We receive you upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). In 20- 30 minutes, our vehicle takes you to the hotel. After taking rest, we hold meeting over dinner to plan your trip. Overnight stay in Kathmandu Included Dinner

Day 2Kathmandu sight-seeing After breakfast early in the morning, we set on visiting the UNESCO Wold Heritage Sites in Kathmandu valley. We visit Famous Hindu Temple, Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath Stupa that lies on the north eastern part of Kathmandu valley. Ascending the Swayambhunath Temple, the monkey temple on the hill in the western skirt of Kathmandu is an opportunity to study the whole city in bird’s view. Kathmandu Durbar Square listed in the UNESCO WORLD Heritage Sites, built during Malla Dynasty exhibits the finest cuts of wood carvings and arts. You get an opportunity to explore the typical Newari culture and cuisines. Overnight at hotel included meal Breakfast

Day 3Drive to Bhulbhule (7 hrs), one hour hike to Ngadi (930 metres or 3,051 feet) After breakfast in the morning we take a vehicle to Bhulbhule. The 7 hours drive along the Prithvi Highway diverts on right side at Dumre Bazar and follows Dumre-Besishahar-Chame Highway. We take lunch at Besishahar on the way to Bhulbhule. Here, we pass the trekking permit checkpoint and begin ascending to the trail meandering along with Marshyangdi River. We stop for overnight at Ngadi. The place offers the glance of Manaslu range.

Day 4Ngadi to Jagat 1,300 metres or 4,265 feet (7 hrs hiking) Early in the morning after the breakfast, we begin trekking along the trail that passes through the fields and farms. The green spectacular view of the valley surrounded by the sub tropical forests comforts the eyes as well as mind as we ascend and descend the trail through the woods At Ghermu Phanta, we enjoy lunch as well as the view of waterfall. After walking for 20 minutes we cross a suspension bridge over Marshyangdi River. From here we ascend the trail to Jagat. The place is surrounded by the hills. Here, we stay overnight in a guest house.

Day 5Jagat to Dharapani (1,860 metres or 6,102 feet) After breakfast, we meander along the bank of Marshyangdi River. We hike along the trail that passes through the woods. The green spectacular view of the surrounding is pleasure. The fascinating waterfall lies on the way as we cross a suspension bridge before we arrive at Chamje, a small settlement. After crossing the suspension bridge again, we ascend the rocky cliff that challenges us until we arrive at “Tal.” We take rest here and have lunch before we continue the trek. The village of Karte lies on the edge of woods. We enjoy the wonder of natural sights as we move ahead and cross several suspension bridges over Marshyangdi River before we arrive at Dharapani. Overnight teahouse stay.

Day 6Dharapani to Chame (2,670 metres or 8,760 feet) After breakfast we continue the trek. Trails on this day passes through several villages surrounded by woods. Hiking along the way, we can view the Himalayas including Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Annapurna IV before we arrive at Chame, the Headquarters of Manang district. There are several health institutions, schools, banks and other institutes in Chame. We stay here overnight.

Day 7Chame to Lower Pisang (3,200 metres or 10,499 feet) After breakfast, we set on trail through suspension bridge. The surrounding offers the magnificent views of Annapurna 2 in south and Pisang Peak in the north east. The trail leads us to the Lower Pisang, a part of Manang valley. The place is occupied by the sparse settlements with uniquely designed structures. The headquarters of Manang district is famous for the production of best quality apples. We stay here overnight.

Day 8Lower Pisang to Manang (3,540 metres or 11,614 feet) This day we begin enjoying the trekking route that leads us through dense woods inclining and declining at various places. During the trek from Lower Pisang to Manang the town in Manang district, the path brings us to Nawal (Ngawal) hill which offers the spectacular view of Annapurna 2 and Pisang Peak. Further, we descend to Braga (braka) where we find the biggest 900-year-old monastery in the district. After having lunch on the premises of monastery we gear-up trekking along the gentle path for about an hour to reach the town of Manang. Here, we prepare to acclimatise for the following day.

Day 9Acclimation in Manang We prepare ourselves to adapt the environment prior to the journey. In the morning, we go to view the marvellous Gangapurna glacier. The path to Gangapurna Lake crosses a suspension bridge over Marshyangdi River. Further, we ascend to a viewpoint that offers the spectacular view of Annapurna 2, Annapurna 4, Gangapurna Himal, Pisang Peak, Tilicho Peak and the settlements of Braka and Manang. If we have time, we will go to famous Milarepa's Cave or Namkading Cave that situates beyond Bodzo Gompa, at the height over 4,000 metres. It is believed that Milarepa, a great Tibetan Buddhist philosopher and Vajrayana Mahasiddha lived here in the cave for many years in 11th Century. After visiting the place, we go back to hotel and stay overnight.

Day 10Manang to Yak Kharka (4,050 metres or 13,287 feet) In the morning, after breakfast, we set on trail to Yak Kharka. We reach an ancient village of Tenki after walking for an hour. The views of grazing yaks and horses, on the surrounding meadows give pleasure to the eyes. The path ascends on the hills passing a village of Gunsa. Further, we cross a rivulet and arrive at a small town of Yak Kharka. At night, we take rest here.

Day 11Yak Kharka to Thorung Phedi (4,450 metre or 14,600 feet) After breakfast, in the morning, we follow the trail with slight elevation at several places. If we are lucky, we may find the flocks of Himalayan blue sheep or Bharal on the cliffs. On this day, we head for Thorung Phedi, the base of Thorong La Pass. The trail offers the great views of Mount Gundang, Mount Syagang, Thorung Peak and Mount Khatungkan on the left side as we walk towards West. We stay overnight in the settlement of Thorung Phedi.

Day 12Thorung Phedi to Muktinath (3,760 metres or 12,336 feet) We begin the journey by the pre-dawn on this day as we target to climb up to Thorong La Pass (5,416 metres) the largest pass in the world and the highest point in the Annapurna Circuit Trekking. This is one of the most important destinations in the Annapurna circuit trekking. We ascend the steep trail up to High Camp 4,850 metres, then the trail becomes little easier. We reach the Pass after walking the trail covered in snows for about 5 to 6 hours. Here, at this height, the surroundings offer the magnificent views of the Thorung peak. After enjoying the breathtaking views for some time we descend along the steep path to Phedi. The trail becomes gentle as we move ahead beholding the mountain range towards Muktinath. We spend the night here in Muktinath.

Day 13Muktinath to Marpha (2,670 metres or 8,760 feet) Muktinath is a sacred place both for Hindus and Buddhist as the place has renowned Vishnu Temple. The temple has 108 taps which the Buddhists term as Chuming Gyatsa. It is said that the water from the taps impose redemption or Mukti on those who take bath in it. We pay homage to the temple in the morning and head for Marpha. We descend further passing by a village of Jharkot. We enjoy the magnificent views of mountains as we descend along the trail and reach Kagbeni. Kagbeni is regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in the region as it is surrounded by the mountain ranges. The place is also important market as the path that leading to Upper Mustang and Jomsom concur here. From here we meander along the banks of Kaligandaki River. We pass through the barren land which partly gives a glimpse of Tibet. Further we move ahead along the easier path through Jomsom and reach Marpha, the village of Apple Garden. The place is also famous for varieties of apple and other products such as juice, brandy, dried apple chips.We stay here overnight.

Day 14Marpha to Kalopani (2,530 metres or 8,301 feet) After breakfast in the morning we continue our journey slightly descending along the trail. As we advance along the bank Kaligandaki River we view Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna I mountains. Here, once more, we get chance to be view the green vegetation. Further we walk ahead towards Kalopani after crossing suspension bridges over Kaligandaki River.

Day 15Kalopani to Tatopani (1,190 metres or 3,904 feet) In the morning we wake up to be surprised by the panoramic views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna I. We take breakfast together with the breathtaking views of mountain as the rays from sunlight falls upon Dhaulagiri. We descend the path meandering along the bank of Kaligandaki River. We cross suspension bridges and other several villages on the way to Tatopani. Tatopani refers to the natural hotspring which has medicational value. As we are reserved for the night in Tatopani, we can relax at the hot spring.

Day 16Tatopani to Ghorepani (2,860 metres or 9,383 feet) After breakfast in the morning we trek on the plateau until we cross the bridge over Kaligandaki River. We prepare ourselves to ascend the steep trail that passes through thick woods, hills and villages. As we cross Shikha and Chitre village, we pass through the dense woods, the forests of Rhodendron and enjoy the Annapurna mountain range and then we arrive at Ghorepani. We stay overnight in Ghorepani, the village which is famous for the great view of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountain range.

Day 17Ghorepani to Pokhara (850 metres or 2,789 feet) Early in the morning, we get ready to scale Poon Hill. The trail passes through the thick woods of rhododendron. In about an hour, we arrive at the Poon Hill view point. Scenery from here appears like in imagination. The closer view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges including other 20 highest mountains is marvellous. Sun light illuminates the snowy mountains. The spot at the Poon Hill gives an amazing view of Pokhara in the south east and Mustang in the north. We come back to the hotel for breakfast at Ghorepani. We continue descending south east along the trail crossing bridges, witnessing the water falls, observing the Himalayas until Tikhedhunga. As we meander together with Bhurungdi River, the green forests and villages scattering among the hills come into view. We cross a bridge at Birethanti and another suspension bridge before we reach Nayapul, the base for the trekking routes and also the local market. From here, we take a vehicle en route for Pokhara.

Day 18flight to Kathmandu After breakfast in the morning, we visit Mahendra cave and Davis Fall, popular attractions in Pokhara. After taking rest, we fly to Kathmandu in the afternoon which takes about 40 minutes. The flight gives an opportunity to observe the mountains closely. The day is for taking rest and exploring about nearby places. We enjoy the night in Kathmandu.
