Mardi Himal Trek is one of the famous treks in the Annapurna region. This trek takes one through colorful rhododendron forests, splendid landscapes, hillsides, and villages with beautiful terraced paddy fields to the snowy slopes.
Mardi Himal (5,587m) is situated beneath Mt Machhapuchchhre in the Annapurna region.
Mardi Himal Trek offers a breathtaking view of Mt Machhapuchhre, Mt Dhaulagiri, Mt Hiunchuli and the entire Annapurna range.
Since this trek route has been opened since 2012, it offers an adventure through off-the-beaten-path in Nepal. The trails in this part of Annapurna region are comparatively less crowded and has peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.
Mardi Himal Trek is much easier in comparison to Everest Base Camp Trek and Annapurna Base Camp Trek but the panoramas offered by the landscapes are mind blowing.
Apart from the magnificent views of the Himalayas, Mardi Himal Trek provides an opportunity for trekkers to learn about Gurung and Magar cultures.
Trip Overview
Mardi Himal Trek is among unexplored destinations away from the hustle-bustle of the urban lifestyle. This trip fits well on the itinerary of all adventure trekkers who have time little over a week.
Mardi Himal Trek provides awe-inspiring views of the Himalayan range of the Annapurna region from remote rural area.
The Mardi Himal route, which was once popular among campers only, is becoming popular among the adventurers who like to explore in a peaceful and tranquil area. This trek route was opened in 2012 with the establishment of lodges and teahouses.
The trek begins from Kande which is about one- hour drive from Pokhara. The trail leads trekkers to Pothana (1,925m), Forest camp (2,600m) hustling the way through the lush green forests. Subsequently, the hike from the Forest Camp to High Camp (3,600m) is 6 to 7 hours. Walking along the narrow ridge brings hikers to the upper viewpoint. The trekkers in this route get an overwhelming view of the Himalayas. On the return from the view point via High Camp, it is an easy trek descending to Low Camp. The following day, it is a 4-hour hiking to Siding village and 3-hour drive to Pokhara.

Hotel / Accommodations
Two-night accommodation in a star hotel in Kathmandu, one night in Pokhara and 5 -night stay in the standard teahouse lodge in mountains during the trek. You may have to share a bed with a companion during the mountainous trip. But if you need, $ 250 can fetch you single supplement for the whole trip in the mountains.
Food:
You will be served with breakfast during your stay in Kathmandu. All other meals will be provided to you by Mount Fishtail Adventure Pvt Ltd which includes welcome dinner. We provide you with breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the journey. When you are on the mountain, you will be served with local foodstuffs such as Dal Bhat (gram soup and rice), noodles, Tibetan bread made of buckwheat, apple pie, spaghettis, soup, salad, hot drinks.
Best time to travel
The best time to set out on Mardi Himal Trekking is either in Spring season (March to May) or in Autumn (September to November). It offers magnificent views together with amazing sunrise and sunset in these two seasons.
The journey is also possible in other seasons even in monsoon but we recommend you on its best time.
Points to consider
As the trek is along the gentle path, a person with an average fitness can do this trek. You are likely to walk 6 to 7 hours a day. Besides that, you will require getting medical advice from a doctor if you have any health defect. You will have to inform us beforehand.
Although you do not require any technical and physical training for this trek, we suggest you do basic physical training or keep up walking as a preparation since walking in mountain may be a bit difficult.

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu (1,345 metres or 4,413 feet)We receive you from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) upon your arrival. In 20- 30 minutes, our vehicle brings you to the hotel. After you take rest in the hotel, we hold a meeting over dinner to plan your trip. Overnight stay in Kathmandu
Day 2Flight to Pokhara; trek to Pothana (1,925m): 1-hour drive and 2-hour hikeOur guide will pick you up from the hotel. You will leave for the airport on our vehicle. You will take a flight to Pokhara. You will be surprised by the up-close view of mountains during the flight. From Pokhara airport, we take a vehicle to Kande. From here we hike to Pothana. Overnight in Pothana.
Day 3Pothana to Forest Camp (2,600m) trek: 4 hoursIn the morning, we start the trek from Pothana. After we cross Pitam Deurali, the trail leads us through a rhododendron forest and woods of oak, maple and hemlock. We may spot wild mammals including leopard, herds of deer, troops of monkeys and many different species of birds in the forest. The trek is short on this day. We reach Forest Camp in the afternoon. Overnight in Forest Camp.
Day 4Forest Camp to High Camp (3,600m) trek: 6 to 7 hoursThe trail continues through the dense forests to High Camp. We ascend through the trails. We take lunch at Low Camp taking the magnificent view of Mt Machhapuchchhre. We head in a westward direction ascending toward the views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli Himal. We continue hiking on the Mardi Himal ridge thorugh the rhododendron bushes. We may spot colorful Danfe (Lophophorus) and other pheasants along the trail.
The lodges at High Camp offer amazing views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli Himal and Mt Machhapuchhre. Overnight in High Camp.
Day 5Hike to View Point (4500m/14763ft); back to Low Camp: 6 hours In the early morning, we make an excursion to the View Point to witness the sunrise over the Himalayas. Then we’ll have breakfast and begin to climb the Mardi Himal View Point at 4500m. This could be challenging to walk on the narrow and rocky trails. However, in the end, the hard work will reward you with the astounding view of Mardi Himal. We hike back to High Camp and further to Low Camp. Overnight in Low Camp.
Day 6Low Camp to Siding Village (1280m, 4200ft) trek: 4-hour hiking, 3-hour drive to PokharaWe make a steep descent retracing the trail to Low Camp. We then leave the trail and trek into the forest, heading to the Mardi Khola River. We descend further to Siding and then drive back to Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 7Flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1,345 metres or 4,413 feet)At around 9:00 am, we fly to Kathmandu which takes about 40 minutes. The flight gives an opportunity to observe the mountains closely. The day is for taking rest and exploring about nearby places on your own. We enjoy the night in Kathmandu. We invite you to dinner.
